When you’re a toddler generally anything fun goes, if you are looking for some birthday party ideas and inspiration here are 10 that might be fun to consider.
First, why not hire a hall? Save your house from the mess, and have a little more space, unless you have a large house of course, for the little ones to let themselves go while the adults have a cuppa or glass of something else : )
The Workshop at Anstey is ideal to hire for a birthday party for pre-schoolers, it is heated, offers plenty of parking and there is an outside space for finer days too. We enjoy planning and getting creative so do feel free to contact us for any help.
Here are your 10 birthday party ideas for toddlers and pre-schoolers when hiring a hall, if you have any ideas to share we would love to hear about them.
1. Mini festival – this is one of my personal favourites, I love a festival and so any excuse to enjoy one with some little people would be a bonus for me. Play some fun music and get creative with some carnival style games and activities. Decorate some tin cans and play tin can ally with soft balls, ring toss, bean bag or small soft toy toss in a bucket, simple car races, face painting, tattoo station. Why not add a festival theme, so all the kids and possibly adults come dressed up as space rangers or just in bright colours, go wild with your imagination get colourful with some tissue flower backdrops festival style and maybe even a little glittery. 2. Themed soft play – our most recent event in the Workshop was a first birthday party with a Telly Tubby theme. Soft play was hired in along with some ride-ons for those on the move. Bouncy castles and tumbling towers all great fun for a toddlers birthday party

3. Themed tea party – who doesn’t love a tea party, how cute for your toddlers to get dressed up for tea, maybe they could start by making their own tea party place mat. Lots of tea party themed activities and arts and crafts from tea party I Spy, Tea Party Bingo and more, with tea party sandwiches, cakes and the odd teddy or two. image courtesy of the Hilton London kids tea party

4. Animal hospital birthday party – for kids who love their teddies and animals, set up an area of the hall into an animal hospital and get all the guests to bring their favourite toys along for a check-up, each toddler can also come dressed as a vet and help with bandaging and looking after everyone’s cuddlees. Instead of a party bag you could even supply a small cuddly animal to take home. Animal themed food drinks and games.

5. Train party – hire in a whole room of train tracks, where your little ones can enjoy playing trains until their hearts content. Hobby Craft also have a colour-in cardboard train that your little guests could help decorate. Goes without saying, add some train themed food, cake and sweets too to make it a choo choo experience. image courtesy of Track Play .co.uk

6. Book themed party – This one is huge, dec out the hall with a homemade set from your toddlers favourite book, go into the deep dark wood of the Gruffalo, or The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Going on a Bear Hunt, the list is endless and games to play can focus on the story of the book with a little themed music too – you can get as creative as you like and your little guests could even come as characters. 7. Bubble party – if you have outside space and idea could be to set up bubble machines, tire their little legs out letting them chase and burst as many as they can and also consider getting a bubble entertainer. They can offer amazing fun for all the family.

8. Cake decorating party – it’s all about cakes, cupcakes to be precise. Call in the experts or purchase cupcakes ready for decorating, an idea could be to theme the whole party in a colour or favourite animal or tv programme and games could involve a cupcake pinata!

9. Bug party – let the kids explore the fields looking for bugs with magnifying glasses and a bug sheet, binoculus and little collection bags for sticks, leaves etc. then they can head back to the hall to share what they have found. Play some animal noises and see if everyone can guess what animal it is and have animal themed cakes and games with animal music.

10. If all else fails, decorate the hall and employ an entertainer for an couple of hours, there are lots to choose from in the local area, magicians, favourite Disney characters, animal handlers and more.
The Workshop at Anstey is available to hire by the hour. We work with lots of local businesses who can help with catering, themes, acts etc. Or if you’re feeling creative just hire the hall. Need a little creative help? Get in touch, we love a bit of creativity : )
